Landscaping has always been a passion in my life. Ever since I was a young boy, I have loved spending time outdoors. Growing up, I would spend hours pouring over equipment magazines and dreaming about the day I could operate and use them to build new landscapes. I idolized my older brother who worked for a local landscaping company and I would try to keep our country home and gardens looking as pristine as the photos he showed me of the job sites he managed. When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would answer confidently, “a landscaper!” Since that young age, I have dedicated myself to bettering my skills in the yard and growing my love for the outdoors.

Coupling my years of experience working in the landscape construction industry with my technical education in landscape design, I bring a unique and down to earth approach to every landscape project. I obtained a Horticultural Industries Diploma at Algonquin College then went on to complete a Bachelor of Applied Science with a major in Horticulture at Olds College in Alberta. In my time in the industry I have won multiple provincial and national awards for landscape design and construction. I hold designations as a Certified Landscape Designer (CLD) and a Fusion Landscape Professional (FLP) with Landscape Ontario and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association.

I am motivated by the challenge to create a beautiful design while maintaining functionality in the landscape and keeping the project in the budget range. Each season I seek to discover new ways to integrate technology to better express design concepts and to streamline the process. I am passionate about helping my clients get the most out of the landscape design process so that their yard becomes an extension of their home.

Horticulture is a passion that motivates me to bring excellence to every landscape design project. I am told my passion for gardening is contagious as I am always happy to chat about anything gardening related. I have been fortunate to grow up with a spacious backyard. As a child my love for gardening was cultivated with countless hours spent under the tree canopy helping my family design and maintain the garden. I built on this passion working in a garden centre in high school. I then obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and worked in management consulting for three years. This work took me around the world and taught me many valuable skills. However, my love of gardening called me back to the horticulture industry where I enrolled in Algonquin College’s Horticultural Industries diploma program to pursue a career in landscaping.

Landscape design has provided me with an opportunity to combine the skills I gained in management consulting with the horticultural toolbox I developed over the years. During my time at Algonquin College I received the Canerector Foundation Scholarship, won the Skills Ontario provincial horticulture competition, and worked for the NCC at the Official Residences of Canada where I worked in the gardens, greenhouses, and vegetable gardens. During this time, I benefitted from the teaching and mentoring of many great horticulturalists at Algonquin College and the NCC to develop my horticultural expertise.  

Building on my passion and experience in horticulture, I am committed to bringing high quality work to every landscape design.
